Who here is actually/was actually in med school at any given point? Currently in med school, now a doctor of some sort, a med school drop-out...whatever you got, let's hear it.
It counts if you have fudged some things and are currently in pediatric care without a valid medical license.
I'm at Drexel med right now but not actually a med student. I'm in a program where I take all the first year classes plus an ethics coarse to help get into med school. Next fall I should be USUHS the military medical school in Bethesda, MD.
It is true that parts of military medicine can be cushy but there is always the possibility of being deployed to places like Iraq. But I plan to be as far from the cushy stuff as possible.
I'm with Hutch in this program. The basics are: Do med school average, get a B. Get all Bs or better first semester, get a Drexel Med School interview. 29 out of 133 got the Drexel interview (Up to 50 have dropped out; they are removed from any official tallies). You really have to know how you study, realize the lectures aren't the main focus of your time, and hope the professors don't give you insane questions too often. I'll likely end up taking the master's year and applying within the first few weeks of the next cycle in June. The economy and med school applications are inversely related, I've been told, making the process even more selective. It's really hard to explain all the random things that have gone this past year using the internet. I'll need to be drunk, in a pub and looking like the Ancient Mariner to tell this story properly.
I'm still undecided in my major, but I'm taking junk geared towards pre-pharmacy. I'm in Anatomy and Nutrition right now, those are pretty medical in nature, I guess?
>I hope not to screw up, but you it's going to be inevitable.
You already have.
My only advice is your grades are poor, improve them. (I see all) Spend a semester studying for the MCAT, try to take basket weaving then.
